The El Dorado World Tour is the sixth world tour by Colombian singer Shakira, in support of her eleventh studio album, El Dorado. Comprising 54 shows so far, the tour will visit Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America. The tour began on June in Hamburg, Germany and is scheduled to end on November in Colombia.
International pop sensation Shakira kept a low profile in 2013 as she gave birth to her first baby and continued to work on a new album, which will be her first since 2010's Sale el Sol. It was a rare career break for the Colombian singer, songwriter, and dancer, who released her first album when she was just 14 years old. She was producing her own albums and taking unusual control of her own career before her 20th birthday, and she slowly built herself into a star throughout Latin America. She crossed over to mainstream America beginning in 2001 with the hit singles "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes," which appear on Laundry Service, her first primarily English-language album. Other hits followed, including "Hips Don't Lie" and the World Cup anthem "Waka Waka," giving her more than enough ammo to sell out tickets for North American arena tours. In concert, she energetically shifts through musical styles -- mostly rock based, but pulling in elements of Latin and even Arabic music -- and costume changes. She's sold more than 125 million albums worldwide over the course of her career, and her trophy case houses two Grammys, among many other awards.
